tribute dr Rick Parry: "This was probably the hardest day of his life. It’s been very tough, something he didn’t want to do but something he knew he had to do. I know, however, that like everyone else he’s very excited about the future and once today is over I’m sure he’ll be buzzing again. No-one cares about this club as much as David. He’ll still be very much involved and will always be viewed as the custodian of its values."

Thank you for bringing me to Liverpool, and thank you for everything you have done for the club. It was not an easy decision for him to sell Liverpool, but he has shown he is a good person and a nice person. I’m happy he still has a role to play in the future and hope we can share more success together in the future."

tribute dr Dalglish: "He’s going to be kept on in some capacity, and deservedly so. He’s really put the football club before David Moores here. In this day and age there’s a huge amount of money needed to support a football club. David has been honest enough to say he doesn’t have that kind of money; the money for a new stadium, to pay off the debts and to support a fantastic team on the pitch."
